
Tonight I walked east. I looked at shopfront after shopfront aligned shoulder to shoulder. Each space was long and narrow, with windows only at the front. And each space was so different—I laughed at how walking this street was like turning channels on TV. It’s different for the people inside-- the view out framed by the sidewalls is like wearing blinders and seeing a narrow slice of city.
