
This journal would identify (and avoid) the promotional as distinct from the critical, on the understanding that the promotional is the normative mode of expression in design writing today. It would understand (and point out) that promotionalism is part of the circular patronage economy that constitutes the primary mode of exchange within established design cultures. It would circumvent mafias. And by its buoyancy and distributed editorship, it would avoid the cement overcoats of propriety that will be its major risk.
