Toronto needs a discourse on architecture that talks about where the money comes from. It needs a journal that understands who the embedded intellectuals are, the critics on short leashes. It needs a journal that can spot the next cliché a kilometer away, and take the scenic route around it (feeling “edgy” yet?). It needs reporting that understands who’s related to whom and by what granting program. It needs voices that keep on asking why the competition didn’t go to the jury’s choice. It needs a journal that looks under the rug where these things get swept. It needs the Transparency International of Canadian architecture.
