New Type Of Subway Map Proposed For The City ;)
image

A pilot mapping project run by London Transit proved so successful in helping passengers negotiate the city's often complex subway system, that it is being considered for the TTC. Monty P. Eyethon, a spokesperson for London Transit, says, "It was remarkable how quickly passengers adapted to the new maps. For the first time in the subway's history, no one complained."

TTC officials were quiet about their plans for the new way-finding technology. "It needs approval from council for a test implementation," said one TTC employee who asked to remain anonymous. "Then it goes to our internal way-finding committee who plan a series of decade long reviews."

  1. You know what we need? A subway map that superimposes the GTA-area parts of the GO train lines. It would highlight the stupendous, ridiculous, jaw-dropping lack of interconnection between the two systems. Go ahead, take a look, I dare you: . Now, for a twist, imagine that lines E and F added Bloor stops, so that you could transfer over from somewhere else on the Bloor line. Think about it. Hop over from the U of T eastbound to the F Train, northbound in one stops to Oriole, then east along Sheppard to complete your trip. Or up to Langstaff, where ... oh, yeah. The VIVA and YRT buses don't connect up. We don't need more subway stations in this city. We need the systems we've got -- GO, TTC, YRT, etc. -- to interconnect. And maps to capture the whole thing in an easy snapshot. Then see demand skyrocket, and GO putting trains every 10 minutes, like Paris's RER.
