We found these spectacular images of towers in Dubai at the UAE community blog. Object buildings achieve their desired impact when removed from any real context. Who cares about how the building meets the ground! Community and neighbourhood oriented cities like Toronto are more introspective. Place-making on a local level receives most of our design attention, in theory if not in actual practice. We've been lucky to inherit some fine grain legacy buildings to build our city fabric around but that doesn't mean we can't be seduced by the occasional vision of Corbusian Radiant Cities - these are persuasive images.
