Branson told Canadians what they didn't really want to hear this morning while announcing the Virgin sponsored "Flick Off" campaign. Branson told the assembled crowd of journalists and politicians that the federal government's decision to not honour our Kyoto accord agreements is discouraging. "It is worrying," stressed Branson, "that a great country like Canada is [not following Kyoto] and is setting such a bad example for the world." He went on to say that Canada can meet its targets and it will not ruin our economy.
The launch this morning of the Flick Off campaign took place in the SAS building on King Street, one of the "greenest" buildings in Canada. Ontario Environment Minister Laurel Broten noted that the Ontario government is a key player in this initiative.
