Message: The Cure and the Pedicure - 4 Conversations with pharmacists It’s a truism among pharmacists that they know more about medicine than doctors do, not only about drugs. Some of them even know about counter-indications, drug interactions, allergic reactions and other side effects. In an attempt to discover how to take the combination of antibiotics that had been prescribed (with food / sans food; with each other / as far apart as possible; with milk / for heaven’s sake avoid milk at all costs) I found myself consulting four different pharmacists, two in the hospital and two in my neighbourhood. “Your pharmacist will tell you,” the surgeon had said. That no two pharmacists agreed, left me uninstructed. “Just choose whichever one you like best,” counselled my GP in a light-hearted mood. www.readingtoronto.com
